Osmeña Peak
A unique hike on Cebu Island
PHILIPPINES
We were eager to embark on the hike to Osmeña Peak. We discovered that it is a far more popular hiking spot than Kandungaw Peak as the access from Dalaguete was easier to get to the Osmeña Peak trailhead.
Located in Cebu, Osmeña Peak offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes. The ascent to the peak was notably more challenging due to its steep incline, but it was well worth the effort. Along the way, we were surprised by the amount of farmers working the surrounding lands. Janet even made friends with a baby goat. The trail was well-maintained, making it accessible even for beginners. We even spotted some tent campers part of the way up the trail, as you can camp overnight and marvel at the stars. The beginning of the trail had "parking" attendants and a sign in book with a small environmental fee. Also there were some locals enjoying their wine and having a great time.
Next as we made our way up we came across the campers and some farmers using some massive baskets to move their harvest back down the hill. Janet also found a new friend.
An absolutely stunning final destination on this hike. I recommend to hike this area early in the day as the crowds picked up a bit in the afternoon. Happy exploring!
As we continued to the peak, the panoramic views left us in awe. Once we reached the summit, we were rewarded with a 360-degree view of the Cebu Island, with the shimmering ocean stretching out into the distance. It was the perfect spot to relax, take stunning photographs, and appreciate the natural beauty of the Philippines.
