New Plymouth is a coastal city located in the Taranaki region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It's known for its stunning natural beauty, with Mount Taranaki, an active stratovolcano, dominating the landscape. We headed up to the North Egmont Visitor Centre to learn more about the area and do a hike in the area.

We did a few of the trails from the visitor center and got some amazing views as well we got to experience a small swing bridge with a one-person capacity maximum load. The rest of the trail was well marked and easy to follow. This was our first real hike in New Zealand and we were amazed at how dense the forest was. As we hiked we could only capture glimpses of Mount Taranaki.

On our way back into town we stopped at the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge where you can get some views of both the water and Mount Taranaki.

The city offers a mix of outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, and exploring its coastline all with Mount Taranaki watching over. Happy exploring!
