Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Spending a day exploring Cuyahoga Valley National Park
USA
We visited the Cuyahoga Valley National Park located in Ohio. The park size is approximately 33,000 acres and features scenic trails, waterfalls, and the Cuyahoga river.
It became a national park in 2000, and is the only national park in the state of Ohio. The parks most notable trail is the 20-mile (32 km) Towpath Trail. This trail which follows a former stretch of the 308-mile (496 km) Ohio and Erie canal and is popular for hiking, bicycling, and running.
The park is also unique as it stretches north and south following the Cuyahoga river making it a long and narrow protected area.
We started our hiking at the Ledges overlook which was a short hike down from the parking area to the viewpoint overlooking the tree tops.
We then continued to loop around the Ledges trail and admire the unique rock formations and trails within the park.

We then arrived back at the car after completing the loop and made the 10 minute drive up to the Brandywine falls parking area. There was a boardwalk path down the to the viewpoint and the falls were stunning.

Our final two stops were Bridal Veil falls and then walking along the towpath trail.

The Towpath trail was flat and wide. Allowing for both cyclists, walkers, and joggers to enjoy the area easily. There was also a statue of a horse to represent the original horses that would have pulled supplies up and down the canals.
We were fortunate that we got such great weather to explore the unique landscapes this National Park had to offer.
Be sure to check out the one National park in Ohio and have a great visit to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Happy exploring!
