Wells Gray is a stunning destination for nature lovers. Located in British Columbia, Canada, it offers breathtaking views and a variety of outdoor activities. With over 1.3 million acres of wilderness. When researching this park we found that it is labeled as a haven for hikers, campers, and wildlife enthusiasts.

We were excited to explore the numerous hiking trails that wind through dense forests and lead to beautiful lakes and waterfalls. Hiking the Helmcken Falls and Moul Falls were items on our bucket list. We first stopped at the visitor center for maps and a park overview. We first stopped at the park sign to snap a photo and then drove to the back end of the park to view Helmcken Falls.

Next, we stopped at the Dawson Falls parking lot and hiked up to the viewpoint.

Helmcken Falls was absolutely stunning, cascading down a towering canyon, it was one of the park's main attractions. You could hear the roar and spray. We made the extra effort to also hike the Rim Trail, which gave us a view from the opposite side of the valley from the main viewing platform.

Be warned that there were no railings near the edge of the large drop-off on the Rim trail. So be aware of your surroundings when you are close to the edge.

Moul Falls was our next stop. This stunning waterfall cascaded down a series of rocky cliffs and had an etched out cave behind it, allowing you to walk behind the falls. The trail to reach the falls was about 5 km round trip. The trail meandered along the edge of the Clearwater River, offering a glimpse of its crystal-clear waters.

As we approached Moul Falls, the sound of rushing water grew louder, heightening the anticipation. Finally, the falls came into view, a majestic display of power and serenity. We felt the mist from the cascading water on our skin. We found Moul Falls to be the most memorable stop since we were able to get so close to the falls and really got a sense of the scale.

We had a blast at Wells Gray Provincial Park and whether you're looking for adventure or tranquility, a visit is sure to leave you in awe of its natural beauty. We hope to visit again in the winter to view the waterfalls full of ice and snow. Happy exploring!

Before going to Helmcken Falls we drove past and up the road to Bailey's Chute. This is an area of rapids and cascading waterfalls that the Salmon must battle through the rapids to get to their spawning grounds. The water was thunderous and it was amazing to watch how high these massive salmons could jump to make their way up this fast moving powerful water.
