Exploring Portland and Multnomah Falls
USA
For the start of our Oregon Coast trip, we headed down the I5 to Portland in order to explore the city and Multnomah Falls. For the journey east of the city to Multnomah Falls, there were several scenic spots to explore and see the falls in the spring with melting snowpack. The sight of the water thundering down and creating a misty spray was truly mesmerizing. With steep terrain and trails surrounding the falls we were eager to explore. For the main vantage point there was a well-maintained viewing platform that offered an excellent spot to admire the falls and capture memorable photographs.
In the city, we were excited to check out some trails, one of which was said to lead to a self proclaimed Witch's Castle. A great viewpoint of the city was location at the Pittock Mansion. Although we arrived too late to view the inside of the mansion, we did get to take in the views of the city from the surrounding gardens.

Another unique landmark in Portland is the Witch's Castle. Nestled in the lush greenery of Forest Park, this historic site is rich in local folklore and legends. Formerly known as the Stone House, the Witch's Castle exudes an eerie charm with its stone walls and grunge vibe.
As you wander through the moss-covered ruins, you can't help but imagine the secrets and stories that haunt these ancient walls. The surrounding forest adds a mystical ambiance, making it easy to believe in the tales of witches and spirits that still roam the area.

This trip only allowed for a short stop in Portland with what we got to explore we are excited to come back and see other highlights of the Portland area. Happy exploring!
The next day we headed east of the city into the Columbia River Gorge to Multnomah Falls. This majestic waterfall cascades down a height of 620 feet, making it the tallest waterfall in the state.
There is a main viewing platform just a few minutes walk from the parking lots but if you don't mind getting into the spray from the falls you can hike up to the Benson Bridge, a picturesque stone footbridge that spans the lower part of the falls. The sound of the rushing water and the peaceful surroundings make a visit to Multnomah Falls a must.
