On our last day at Yosemite national park we spent the day visiting Mariposa Grove. This grove is home to over 500 giant sequoia trees, some of which are over 2,700 years old. We were excited to join a ranger walk and see the famous Grizzly Giant.

Getting into the park was a little challenging as you must take the shuttle from the main parking lot and the day we visited shuttles were only running every 45 minutes. There is also a trail that runs adjacent to the road that is about 2 miles long and slightly uphill on the way to the grove. We took the roadside trail on the way back to avoid the long shuttle line.

Once you arrive at the Big Trees Loop Trailhead the boardwalks are wide and very well built and maintained.

We continued to wander through the towering trees and we couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at their immense size and beauty. The quiet serenity of the grove is interrupted only by the occasional chirping of birds or rustling of leaves. Walking amidst the towering giants of Mariposa Grove, you can't help but feel a sense of reverence and respect for these ancient trees. As we neared the start of the trail we paused at the Fallen Monarch and marveled at the massive root system that was now exposed.

With the shuttle delay we missed the first bit of the ranger walk but caught up and learned a lot about the local area, and it's history from a very well spoken and passionate ranger. Be sure to check the National Park Service website for dates and times of the ranger guided walk.

The ranger walk completed at the Grizzly Giant, a majestic tree that captivates visitors with its immense size. Towering over 200 feet tall and boasting a circumference of over 90 feet, this ancient giant is a true natural wonder. It has thick, gnarled branches stretch out in every direction. The Grizzly Giant reminds us of the power and beauty of nature, and the importance of preserving these natural treasures for future generations.

Our next stop on the trail was to continue on the Grizzly Giant Loop trail and stop at the California Tunnel Tree.

We made it back to the start of the trail and Aliya used the boardwalk as a racetrack to run her little legs off. We decided to take the 2 mile trail back to the main parking lot to avoid the shuttle lineups. On the trail found Aliya a pinecone for her to entertain herself with as we completed the hike.
