What better place to celebrate Christmas and ring in the New Year then Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is a vibrant and bustling city that offers a mix of modernity and cultural heritage. It is also known for its diverse culinary scene, offering a variety of delicious street food and traditional Malaysian dishes.

We were happy that we visited Kuala Lumpur during the Christmas season, with an array of upscale shopping malls decked out in full Christmas decorations and Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is you" blasting on the speakers. We rang in the New Year watching fireworks lit up the sky in front of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. And we got a cardio workout, by visiting the Batu Caves, known for its limestone caves with Hindu shrines and temples.

Visiting the Petronas Twin Towers was an awe-inspiring experience. These iconic structures showcased the city's modernity and architectural brilliance. As we approached the towers, we couldn't help but be amazed by their sheer height and stunning design. Standing at 452 meters, they were once the tallest buildings in the world.

The observation deck on the 86th floor provided panoramic views of the city, offering a breathtaking sight. Inside the towers, we could explore the Suria KLCC shopping mall, which housed a variety of international and local brands. The Petronas Twin Towers are not only a symbol of Malaysia's progress but also a must-visit destination. They are spectacular whether you visited during the day or night.

We visited the Badu Caves by ordering a grab which is another version of Uber. Surprisingly it was cheaper and faster than taking the train, and we didn't need to stick to a transit schedule. The caves are a popular tourist destination known for their magnificent limestone formations and religious significance. The stairs up to the caves had been painted in rainbow colours. As we approached the caves, we couldn't help but be captivated by the enormous golden statue of Lord Murugan standing tall at the entrance.

Climbing the steep steps to reach the caves was quite a workout and we needed to be aware of all the sneaky monkeys looking to steal a snack out of our bag. Once inside the cave, we were greeted by the stunning limestone formations and the echoing sounds of prayers. The intricate Hindu shrines and statues added to the spiritual atmosphere, making it a truly unique experience. The view from the top of the caves was breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista of the city skyline. Whether you are a nature enthusiast or a cultural explorer, the Batu Caves will leave you in awe.

Another location that showcases the modernity in Kuala Lumpur was the Pavilion Mall. It was an incredible shopping experience. This modern and luxurious mall offered a wide range of high-end fashion brands, international cuisines, and entertainment options. With its grand interior design, the mall provided a sophisticated and vibrant atmosphere.

From designer boutiques to trendy cafes, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The Pavilion Mall was also known for hosting various events and exhibitions, making it a cultural hub in the heart of the city. During Christmas time the mall was fully decorated with seasonal decorations. Whether you are a fashion enthusiast, food lover, or simply looking for a unique shopping experience, the Pavilion Mall in Kuala Lumpur is definitely worth a visit.

Kuala Lumpur is a city that just offers so much. Make sure to give it a visit and make lots of time in your itinerary for all the amazing activities that are available. Happy exploring!
