There were stalactites, stalagmites and glowworms within the entrance to the caves. I was truly impressed by the abundance and brilliance of the glowworms in the Waipu Caves. Their sheer number and radiant glow created a breathtaking spectacle that left us in awe.

The hike into the caves is 2 km and took us about 1.5 hours round trip. It is free to enter but be sure to bring water shoes or footwear you don't mind getting wet as the inside of the cave has some small streams and ponds.
