After a few beach days we decided we would like to have a day of adventure and thrills. We found that just a few minutes before the town of La Noria there was the Huana Coa Zipline Canopy Adventure as well as the Los Osuna distillery which has over 130 years of history.

We booked the excursion through Huana Coa Adventures who picked us up in the morning along with two other small groups of adventurers. The drive from town to their ziplines was about 35 minutes with the last bit being down a small dirt road after turning off the La Noria hwy. They have water and washroom facilities for you when you arrive. They then get you ready with the equipment which was a harness, gloves, and a helmet. The zipline tour has 9 lines and 12 platforms with a hanging bridge and a repel on the final platform. After a short walk up some stairs to the first platform they have a staging area where they give a safety briefing.

The zipline tour was an absolute thrill and a little different than the ones I had gone on before in Canada. The Whistler zipline tour we had previously done had an automated braking system that slowed you down at the end of each run. The lines on this tour had you use your leather gloves to pull down on the cable to slow yourself down as you reached the downhill platform.

There were also a few minutes of hiking on trails between a couple of the lines with water stations provided to keep you hydrated. While on the zipline you get views of jungle, rolling hills, and at the last two lines get to zip over the fields of blue Agave used to make the Tequila. Overall the zipline tour was a blast and would definitely recommend if you are looking for some thrills close to Mazatlán.

In total, the tours took a little over 4 hours and were both thrilling and informative. The guides were fun, high energy and created a great atmosphere as we zipped through the treetops and then sipped on the delicious drinks. Such a fun day of adventure! Happy exploring!

After finishing the ziplines and repel, it was time for a light lunch. They provided bottled water and had a flat top grill cooking up cheese tacos with bowls of toppings and salsa that you can add to your preference. When we finished our meal it was then time to hop back in the vans for a short drive further down the road to the Los Osuna distillery, where they make blue agave spirits. They cannot legally call their alcohol "tequila", as tequila is the official name of alcohol made from blue agaves around the city of Tequila in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.

The tour walked us around the facility, the first stop was admiring the 400+ year old tree at the entrance. They then showed us the original crushing wheel, the distilling vats, and underground ovens. We then finally got to the important part of the tour, which was tasting the blue agave spirit. I tried the Blanco and Reposado, these had a strong flavor and were a little too powerful for our taste buds as Janet only had a small sip and said "no way"! Janet was smart and tried the Coconut and Vanilla flavors, which were much more mellow and had a nice sweetness to them.
