As we made our way down to Orlando we continued our theme of nature focused destinations. For our first stop in Orlando we made a visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom. The draw for us was that it is a unique theme park that showcases the beauty and diversity of wildlife from around the world. This attraction is not only a zoo but also an immersive experience that combines entertainment with environmental stewardship.

One of the park's main features that attracted us is its dedication to conservation and education. Its grounds allowed visitors to learn about various species and their habitats. From thrilling rides like the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride, to region themed trails and musical performances, it seemed like there is something for everyone to enjoy as they traverse through the park.

We were excited to try the Safari ride and knew that it was going to get busy as the day went on. As soon as we entered the park we made our way to the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride. Even though we were in a hurry to try and beat the crowds we still had to stop and take in the amazing natural area Disney has created as we walked over the water onto Discovery Island.

Then as we entered Harambe Village performers were playing music and dancing creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere. We then got to the lineup for the ride and were pleasantly surprised as it was only about a 10 minute wait in the line to get on the ride. As we got to the front we were also treated to being in the front row of the Safari truck!

It almost felt like we were in the drivers seat as we bounced along the dirt road. Immediately after turning through lush greenery we spotted Zebras galloping, Antelope, Wildebeest, and Giraffes grazing on the high branches.

This first family trip to Orlando and Disney's Animal Kingdom absolutely blew us away. We were truly amazed what we could fit into a one day excursion.

We made memories we will never forget and look forward to returning someday. Happy Exploring!

It took several minutes for the staff to clear the Rhinos giving us plenty of time to capture pictures and enjoy the moment. The typical Safari ride takes just under 20 minutes but we were treated to nearly half an hour of animal viewing due to the delay.

As we turned a corner into the Rhino area of the park two Rhino's decided to start munching on the vegetation right next to the road. One was off the road but the other was blocking our safari truck from being able to pass. Our driver had to radio in for assistance to help clear them off the road. It was exciting to be so close and have a front row seat while these massive animals ate and interacted with each other.

We took the train back and started to tour Discovery Island. One of the main focal points on the island is the Tree of Life. This is a beautiful recreation of a Baobab tree. On the island it stands at 145 feet tall and can be seen from multiple vantage points. The massive tree towers over the land and we marveled at its gnarled roots and outstretched branches. When we took a closer look at it we were able to spot the shapes of over 300 animals carved into the tree.

We read that the tree was created to stand as a visual symbol of the diversity, beauty and the interconnected nature of Earth’s creatures.

As we continued our journey we viewed amazing African elephants and Flamingos. The range in sizes and ages of the elephants was impressive and the Flamingos were a vibrant pink.

This adventure truly felt like being in the African Savanna with the expansive grounds that replicate the animals natural habitats.

After the Safari experience we walked around the nearby area and found the Wildlife express train to take us to the Conservation Station. This area had loads of animal exhibits for Aliya to take in and explore.

In addition to the displays they also had a petting zoo where some of the animals towered over Aliya's head. But she didn't mind and had fun giving a Goat a nice gentle pet.

We then walked off Discovery Island to the Asia area and started the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Along the path were many animals including bats and monitor lizards. The level of detail in the decorations and displays truly made you feel transported into Asia.

Using the Disney park's app we were able to see that there was a Feathered Friends in Flight! show about to start after our trek through Asia. We made it over and grabbed a seat. When the show began it had two presenters that would display multiple bird species and provide information about each bird.

Many of the birds were showcased on a perch or while being held by the presenter. Several of the birds were also trained to fly to specific destinations around the stage. It was impressive to see how focused the birds could be with such a large crowd looking on as they flew just over our heads.

Next we walked further east to an indoor theatre. This was showing Finding Nemo: The Big Blue... and Beyond! The performers were highly energetic and the large puppets made the action easy to see even from a distance. The show was bright and fun and definitely kept Aliya entertained.

Our last stop in the park was Pandora - The world of Avatar. This area of the park is in addition to the incredible animal exhibits, and transports guests into the lush and bioluminescent world of the movie. As we walked through the area we found the floating islands to be just absolutely amazing and made you feel transported to another world.

Just south from the theatre was a small Dinosaur themed carnival area. This section felt like going to the fair and one of the best parts was that there were no lines! We were able to step right onto the ride and Aliya got to enjoy her first carnival ride in a Triceratops.

With live performances, very detailed and themed regions, and a commitment to preserving wildlife, Disney's Animal Kingdom offers an unforgettable adventure.

In the Bay Lake area we also stopped at the Disney Springs mall. We were impressed with the level of detail utilized in the mall to ensure each area felt unique. There were also random live music performances, and bubble machines that added to the amazing atmosphere as we walked down the boardwalks and through the paths.

Next we decided we wanted to see the Festival of the Lion King show that was across on the West side of the park. We walked briskly across the park and were one of the last families to make it in just before the show started.

The show was spectacular! The Lights, Fire, Acrobatics, and Vocals from the cast was absolutely phenomenal. We could feel the heat from the fire. the rumble of the thunder, and broke into song with the rest of the crowd as the show got to some of the favourite tunes. This performance truly left you wanting more as the performance ended and the lights came back on.

As we made our way to the East side of Discovery Island the recreation of Everest came into view over the water. We were in constant awe as we were impressed with the level of detail and thought that went into the visuals as we walk around on the paths.
