We had an extra day in Moab during our trip and looked at what areas we could explore. Corona Arch came up as a unique hike just off of Hwy 279. The hike is about 1.5 miles long, and on a well maintained trail. After you turn the last bend in the trail and can spot Corona Arch there is a ladder and chain section to climb a few steep portions of the trail and gain the last bit of elevation up to the arch.

The trail to Corona Arch offers breathtaking views of the surrounding red rock formations and the Colorado River. The trail is moderately challenging, with some steep sections and rocky terrain, but the reward at the end is well worth it. Standing beneath the massive Corona Arch, you can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the power of nature. There was ample parking in the dirt parking lot. The trailhead was well marked and had an overview of the trail.

Since this feature wasn't in a national park we weren't sure if the hike would be worth it, but we're glad that we made the trip. This hike had it all with an amazing arch, the desert landscape and some challenging features to overcome on the trail. If you are in the Utah area be sure to add Corona Arch to your itinerary. Happy exploring.

When we arrived the size was impressive. The shade underneath was a great escape from the hot sun and we stop to have a snack. Aliya had a great time playing with some of the small rocks she found along the ground and the view looking back to the direction we hiked from was spectacular.

There are plenty of cactus along the edge of the trail but then it opens up to some small scrub brush. Aliya did great in the hiking backpack as we navigated the ladder and chain sections. Corona Arch is in sight for the final push, continuing to cheer you on as you get closer.
